There's no debate about this," RIM Co-CEO Jim Balsillie said during Monday's annual BlackBerry developer conference. "The key, however is deep, rich application integration, not just application development."

BlackBerry Advertising Service will allow developers to integrate ads into their apps.

"You can simply insert advertisements into your application without negotiating," Balsillie said.

Developers will have access to ads from networks like Jumptap, Lat49, Millennial Media, Navteq, 1020 Placecast, Quattro Wireless, and Sympatico.ca. Possible applications of this functionality include the ability to initiate a call, add a calendar entry or contact entry, or directly link to an application in BlackBerry App World - all from an advertisement.

The Advertising Service and its SDK are expected to be available in the first half of 2010, as will the BlackBerry Payment Service, which will allow developers to sell digital content like monthly or annual subscriptions, premium content, or additional levels and upgrades for games.

RIM also plans to make its Push Service, which was released to Alliance Program members earlier this year, generally available in 2010.
eComTechnology Credit Card Processing

eComTechnology

Students pushing paperless

Are there any students out there who aren’t connected to the Web all the time? They have iPhones, Droids, and Pres. They have netbooks, notebooks, and desktops. WiFi is ubiquitous, mobile broadband is increasingly common, and these little Digital Natives still print like there’s no tomorrow.

Sure, we can impose print quotas, we can train them to cut and past web content into a word processor before they print, and we can generally reduce their paper consumption. But why are they printing in the first place? Why aren’t our students driving us towards the paperless ideal? A pat answer would be that we simply haven’t enabled them to work without paper or that we haven’t created a culture that encourages work in a paper-free environment. However, I think the real answer is quite a bit more complicated than that.
eComTechnology Credit Card Processing

eComTechnology

Patch Tuesday and Microsoft has a few

Microsoft plans to release six security bulletins next Tuesday November 10 to fix at least 15 serious vulnerabilities that could expose Windows users to malicious hacker attacks.

According to Microsoft’s advance notice for this month’s Patch Tuesday, the updates will address gaping holes in the Windows operating system and the Microsoft Office productivity suite.
Three of the six bulletins will be rated “critical,” Microsoft’s highest severity rating. No Doubt this week filed suit against Activision for unauthorized use of the band's likeness in the new Band Hero edition of the video game.

The game has "transformed No Doubt band members into a virtual karaoke circus act," according to a suit filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Band Hero was released on Tuesday and allows players to create their own virtual bands with any combination of multiple guitarists, bassists, drummers and vocalists. You want a band featuring Gwen Stefani, Michael Jackson, Taylor Swift, and Adam Levine? Set it up via Band Hero, and then select the song you want your newly formed band to perform.

This type of manipulation is apparently the root of No Doubt's objections.

"They agreed to play three No Doubt songs as a band.... Activision then went and put them in 62 other songs and broke the band up [and] never even asked," the band's manager told the Times.

No Doubt pointed to a feature that would allow leader singer Stefani to sing the Rolling Stones' "Honky Tonk Women." The suit said Stefani objected to the Stefani avatar singing "in a male voice boasting about having sex with prostitutes."

Activision said it held extensive negotiations with No Doubt before the release of the game and is within its rights. music site BlueBeat.com, which bills itself as trying to "stop the insanity of overpriced online music," is no longer carrying the entire catalogue of songs from legendary rock band The Beatles.

EMI Group, a British music company which owns the rights to the songs, filed a copyright infringement claim against the site and its parent company Media Rights Technologies.

The site had been selling Beatles songs for $0.25 apiece; staff members at Wired successfully downloaded 17 songs from the album Abbey Road for $4.55 by using a Paypal account.

After receiving the lawsuit, site founder Hank Risan sent an e-mail to the general counsel of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Steve Marks, responding to Marks’ inquiry over “psychoacoustic simulations”, a “synthetic creation of sounds” developed by Risan.

“With regard to the music streamed at BlueBeat, I authored the sound recordings that are being used by psycho-acoustic simulation, independently affixed pursuant to Section 114 (b) of the Act and, as such, are not within the exclusive rights of your members,” the message reads. “In addition, BlueBeat.com has received copyright registration for all its audio visual material and related sounds.”

EMI’s lawyers argued the site was “engaged in digital music piracy of the most blatant kind” and was undercutting and destroying a legitimate digital market. “Perhaps the most stunning aspect of Defendants’ conduct is the willful and overtly defiant manner in which they are acting,” the lawsuit reads.

It makes particular mention of the Beatles tracks, which were recently re-mastered and re-released with great media fanfare. “The enormous and irreparable harm…is obvious and manifest,” the suit argues.

On November 5 Judge John Walter of the U.S. District Court of the Central District of California approved a temporary restraining order (TRO) on BlueBeat, “Although Defendants claim, without any evidence, that an injunction would significantly harm, if not destroy, their business, the hardships suffered by Plaintiffs will be great if Defendants are not enjoined from infringing or misappropriating Plaintiffs’ Recordings,” Judge Walter ruled. “Defendant cannot invalidate the copyright of an independent and preexisting sound recording, simply by incorporating that recording in to an audiovisual work.”

Five albums of Beatles songs remain on the Web site, though when a user clicks on an album’s “Buy” tab it opens up a window to purchase the album on Amazon.com. Though it was widely rumored the legendary rock band’s complete discography would be released digitally this fall—along with the remastered albums—it is still uncertain as to when, or where, Beatles tunes will show up on a service that's given a ticket to ride.

eComTechnology Credit Card Processing<FIELDSET class=zemanta-related><LEGEND class=zemanta-related-title>Related articles by Zemanta</LEGEND>

Judge stops 2 Web sites from selling Beatles songs (pbpulse.com)

Beatles record label EMI suing BlueBeat.com for offering unauthorized downloads of the Fab Four's tracks for sale (psychedelichippiemusic.blogspot.com)

</FIELDSET>

eComTechnology

Google Mobile

Beginning Nov. 9, sales associates for Best Buy Mobile will install Google Mobile App on all BlackBerry, Microsoft Windows Mobile, or Nokia S60 smartphones through the Walk Out Working program, a free in-store smartphone setup. The rotating speed of the hard drives is increasing by bounds and leaps. But it has a adverse effect, immense centrifugal force is generated and eventually hard drive failure occurs. This behavior cause critical data loss and require Hard Drive Recovery solutions to retrieve data if the backup is not available. This is the manual help offered by recovery professionals. The crashed or failed hard drive exhibits various errors that include boot-failure messages. You might get an error message similar to the following one when you start your computer: “ Disk Boot Error, Replace and Strike Key to Retry” The hard drive spins, but BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) can not recognize it. The above error message indicates that your hard drive experiencing some physical problems and hard drive data recovery is required to fix it. However, you might also check the following things: Your system may be trying to boot from other disks inserted into it like floppy in drive A. So remove all the drives and try to reboot the system. Check BIOS settings. Make sure that the hard drive settings are correct and the hard drive is enabled. Verify the boot order. Mark the primary partition as active. Make sure that the hard drive power connector and ribbon cables are properly connected. Examine that all the device drivers are installed. If none of the above solutions work, immediately turn your system off. You need to send your hard drive to recover professionals to repair the damaged hard drive and retrieve all of the lost data from it.
eComTechnology Credit Card Processing

<DIV style="MARGIN-TOP: 10px; Windows 7 sold 234 percent more copies during its first few days on the market than Vista did during the same period of its release, according to research by the NPD Group.

NPD’s data covers the week of Oct. 18 to 24. Windows 7 only launched on the 22nd, but these numbers also include pre-sales from the days before. While the reviews weren’t universally positive, Windows 7 was seen as a huge improvement on Vista, the operating system so hated that it became a punchline of almost every Microsoft joke. The day before the launch, Microsoft’s Brian Hall said Windows 7 and the company’s new search engine Bing, as well as a concerted a advertising effort, are doing a lot to repair the public’s perception of Microsoft.

Not all of the sales numbers were quite as impressive, though. It looks like more people were buying the cheaper versions of the boxed software, rather than a new PC with Windows 7 (PC sales didn’t increase as much as they did for Vista) or the more expensive Ultimate edition. Microsoft’s revenue from Windows 7 sales beat Vista’s, but only by 84 percent.
eComTechnology Credit Card Processing

eComTechnology

Asian online spending increasing

Credit card giant Visa International (VISA) 29 released a recent survey that the global economic uncertainty has not diminished the Asia-Pacific region consumers’ enthusiasm for online shopping, on the contrary online shopping spending more than in the past. Have you been unable to get more people interested in interacting on your website? Would you like to have more interactions and as a result, more repeat visitors and increased new visitors? Then here are five things you must do to be able to get those results. Inform Take a look at any leading website or blog in your niche. What do they have that you don’t? I am willing to bet it is in the amount of information readily available for public consumption. As against many other websites, you ought to look for top quality information and tips that will help improve your readers’ lives. Whether it is to make more money, to grow their businesses or even improve their health, you have got to know how to provide them with this information. This way, you will soon stand out from the many websites that are just rehashing their content. Excite and Motivate People need motivation in their daily activities. So, a post or article written to help people keep motivated is likely to become very valuable. If you can, invite a leading expert to share his thoughts on your blog. If you can’t find a reprint that was probably inspirational to you at one time and put it up -with the owner’s permission I it isn’t yours. You can also help them to think more positively than negatively. Teach Nothing is better than a step-by-step guide on how to do a certain thing. This is the reason websites like ehow.com and askthebuilder.com are doing so well. People have a lot of information to sift through. Unfortunately, they don’t know how to organise the infos they have into a solid plan of action. This is what you should provide for them. The key to really winning with this tip is not to provide general infos but specific, need-driven guides. These step-by-step guides will likely put your website in the spotlight if you try them. Increase awareness This you can do by simply looking for related blogs in the industry and sending them your articles, posting on their websites and generally contributing to their website. To do this well, make sure that your thoughts and opinions stand out and are insightful. This will separate you from the other commenters allowing more people to visit your website. Drive More Traffic Learn how to drive more targeted website traffic to your website. This is a very crucial step. Forget the “if I build it, they will come” mentality. It used to work in the past. Now, anyone adopting that method is committing suicide. Now, you see that all of these tips are based on just one thing: Excellent writing and communication skills. Anything short of this and you won’t get any results. If you cannot write as much as you would like, your best bet would be to hire a high quality content writing service that would help take care of all of these and help you get to the spotlight and remain there.
eComTechnology Credit Card Processing

eComTechnology
